Overview

My name is Ellsy and I hold a First Class MSc (Hons) degree in Psychology. Originally from Ireland, I run a private therapy practice in Paris and also work online with clients in Paris and internationally.

Prior to my journey into psychology, I worked in journalism and product design. Alongside my client work, I continue to provide product development and service design consulting services in the neurotech, performance psychology and mental health sectors.

My approach is integrative, meaning that I draw on a wide range of evidence-based practices and theoretical orientations, adapting to the specific needs of each individual. My tools include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Transactional Analysis and Narrative Therapy.

I attend ongoing professional training and engage in clinical supervision to ensure I work to the highest standards of care. I am also a member of a regular peer supervision group and I abide by the British Psychological Society’s Code of Ethics and Conduct, which sets out guidelines for ethical best practice for psychologists and psychotherapists.

My philosophy

I wholeheartedly believe that any moment in time can become an inflection point in a person’s story, allowing them to refocus their trajectory toward what they truly want. Because we are relational beings, a supportive relationship is sometimes all we're missing to safely explore possibilities and open up new paths to change.

A little more about me

I’ve always been fascinated by stories. Growing up, my mother was a fiction writer and creative writing teacher so the walls of our house were lined with books. An insatiable curiosity to meet new characters, delve into their worlds, and understand how stories are constructed led me to study literature at university. My primary degree in French opened up the worlds of existentialism and semiology, exploring how language and culture shape our identity and the way we see the world.

It was through the broad themes of belonging and meaning that I chased my fascination for storytelling from fictional worlds into the real world, training in psychology and narrative therapy. After graduating, I worked on designing products and services to improve various aspects of mental health using data tracking, neurofeedback and a range of therapeutic modalities.

Today, I draw on my multidisciplinary background in my practice. Psychology can drive self discovery and awareness, providing valuable insights. Meanwhile, creativity brings a sense of freedom and play that can unlock ways of actively moving toward the life, work and relationships you want.
